As a part of the Destination & Travel Foundation's commitment to enhancing the destination marketing industry, the Foundation is a proud partner in several scholarships for students in the hospitality and tourism fields of study.
George D. Kirkland Memorial Fund
The George D. Kirkland Memorial Fund memorializes the life and contributions of George D. Kirkland, CAE. Kirkland, who lost his life to cancer, was President & CEO of LA INC., The CVB since 1990. His service to DMAI and the entire travel and hospitality community is regarded as legendary.
DMAI (then, IACVB) and the DMAI Foundation created the fund at the 2003 Annual Convention and provided initial funding of US$10,000 each.

Today, the endowment assists worthy individuals pursuing careers in the fields of travel and hospitality. The DMAI Foundation, together with the Los Angeles Travel & Tourism Education Foundation, continue Kirkland's legacy in assisting L.A. area students pursuing careers in the fields of travel and hospitality. The fund continues to grow through formal solicitation of generous organizations and individuals.

Academy of Business and Tourism at the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex
The Destination & Travel Foundation, provides scholarships to destination marketing professionals to attend courses for the DMAI certification program, Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME). The scholarship recipient must be currently employed by a DMO or Tourism office but does not have to be a member of DMAI. Please review the application and eligibility requirements to be accepted into the CDME program.
Sain Family Remembrance Funds
To honor the lives and legacies of Gary Sain, and his father Frank Sain, DMAI and the Destination & Travel Foundation have established memorial funds to invest in the future leaders of destination marketing. Make a contribution to the Gary Sain Memorial Fund or the Frank Sain Memorial Fund by downloading and filling out a contribution form.
