DMAI Committees & Councils

DMAI is an association driven by its volunteer leadership and the members of its volunteer committees and advisory councils play an important role. From shaping new tools and research or recommending industry best practices, these members collaborate with their peers and association staff to enhance member benefits and developing resources vital for DMO success.

Advocacy Committee

Recommends partnerships, best practices and resources to communicate the value and impact of DMOs to their leadership, stakeholders and community.

Education Committee

Advances professional development to improve DMOs through creation of relevant education and skills in appropriate presentation formats, including online programming. Determines educational and professional development needs of a diverse organizational membership and oversee and recommends content that leads to professional certification.

Membership Committee

Evaluates and recommends member benefits that increase membership satisfaction; suggests member programs and assists with their implementation; and assists with member recruitment and overall member strategy.

Technology Committee

Identifies and provides technological solutions for DMOs to enhance the level of sophistication, intuitiveness and interaction that drive customer attention.

Sales & Marketing Committee

Actively reviews, evaluates and develops strategies for key DMO initiatives that will best position the DMO industry as the relevant tourism and meeting & convention distribution channel.

Social Responsibility Committee

Provides best practice social responsibility programs specific to the destination marketing industry without duplicating efforts of other organizations; suggests solutions that combine a rewarding travel experience with sustainable, social responsibly economic development; and a diversity program to drive more diversity into our industry and leadership.

Advisory Councils

Partner Advisory Council

Represents the interests of all DMAI allied members, providing guidance regarding programs, activities and policies affecting DMAI’s supplier community, for the greater benefit of the entire organization.

Global Leadership Council

Advises DMAI on strategies for development and growth in Europe while actively serving as ambassadors in the European DMO and hospitality community, as well as providing guidance on programming, events and activities taking place in Europe.

Student & Educator Advisory Council

Assists in recruiting and retaining membership within these categories while recommending tools and resources necessary to gain insight within the industry, explore opportunities and increase professional access.
