Voting Open for 2015 “March Meeting Planner Madness” Tournament

Destination Marketing Association International empowerMINT.com initiative invites planners to vote on what they find most-maddening.

Washington, DC – Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) – the global trade association for destination marketing organizations – invites meeting planners everywhere to vote on what drives meeting planners the most mad in their very own 2015 March Meeting Planning Madness Tournament.

“Being a meeting professional is one of the greatest professions, according to US News & World Report who ranked ‘Meeting, Convention & Event Planner’ 57th on their list of 100 best jobs of 2015,” said Managing Director of DMAI’s empowerMINT initiative Christine “Shimo” Shimasaki. “But, we know the job has moments of sheer, indescribable madness as well.”

From working with stakeholders who think they are planners to cold calls and inadequate responses to their RFPs, meeting planners face significant and maddening challenges every day. During a time when the U.S. is caught up with the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, DMAI will host a tournament just for meeting planners.

A group of meeting planners helped DMAI narrow down the list to the “Not-So-Sweet-Sixteen” things that drive meeting planners mad, the March Meeting Planner Madness tournament is divided up into four voting regions to include:

  1. On the Job
  2. Sales People
  3. Who to Trust, and
  4. The Find.

It's time the world understands what is the one thing that absolutely drives meeting planners mad, and now they have a chance to decide through the 2015 voting schedule below. Voting begins on March 16.

  • Round 1: March 16-22
  • Round 2: March 23-26
  • Round 3: March 27-31
  • Round 4: April 1-3
  • Madness Champion Announced: April 6
