DMAI’s diversity initiative was developed to encourage diversity in the workplace, and focuses on identifying and training DMO professionals in the key core competencies of successful leadership at senior and executive levels. A particular focus will be placed on fostering more ethnic diversity in DMOs which has been identified by the industry at large as an opportunity for growth.
Programs & Initiatives
DMAI’s Future Workforce initiative is intended to identify and recruit diverse students at the university level to join the destination marketing industry.
DMAI plans to increase the visibility of the destination marketing industry to current graduate and undergraduate students at leading hospitality or tourism programs by participating in career fairs. Through a grant from the Destination & Travel Foundation, the program is starting by targeting key regional events organized by the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) with the hope of growing to more events in the future.
