Industry Resources

DMAI is partnering with key industry organizations to help stem the tide of recent negative rhetoric directed towards business travel, and refocus the public message on the value that face-to-face meetings bring to organizations, communities, and the greater economy.  Find out more, and how you can help join the effort, below!

FACE TIME. It Matters.

"FACE TIME. It Matters." is a unique grassroots industry effort designed to encourage organizations in the meetings and events industry to roll out the logo, theme and related marketing tools on their Web sites, in trade partner and consumer advertising, and at their meetings, shows and events.

The campaign is based on the findings of a recent national survey of corporate and association meeting planners, plus in-depth personal interviews with the industry's leading executives as well as focus groups consisting of corporate and association executives, business travelers and professional meeting planners. This research showed that live meetings build relationships, save time and money, as well as create jobs and power the economy.

DMAI will be utilizing the Face Time message to promote the irreplaceable benefits of human interaction and relationship building that may only be realized only through face-to-face meetings.

Meetings Mean Business.

Launched by the U.S. Travel Association to explain the value of meetings, events and performance incentive travel to businesses and our economy, DMAI encouraged all DMOs to take part in the challenge and support the campaign. With a unique and important opportunity to influence U.S. national legislators at the local level, efforts by DMO professionals help protect the jobs of hardworking individuals and the communities that depend on meetings and events.

The campaign was specifically designed to:

  • Urge the U.S. Treasury Dept. to enact clear and sensible meetings/events guidelines for companies receiving taxpayer assistance;
  • Defeat punitive legislation designed to unreasonably restrict corporate meetings/events;
  • Encourage members of Congress to embrace travel as a solution to America's economic woes; and
  • Inform the media about the benefits of meetings and events and the unintended victims of uninformed criticism.
