DMAI's empowerMINT.com & Cvent Collaborate to Save Meeting Professionals Time & Money

WASHINGTON, DC (January 16, 2013) - Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) announced today that Cvent, the world's largest meeting and event management technology company, has joined the association as one of its elite Alliance Partners. The central theme of this new collaboration is to provide valuable educational offerings to meeting professionals and to promote destination marketing organizations (DMOs) as the best, first point of contact to help find the ideal venue for any size meeting.

"Through our empowerMINT initiative, DMAI is always looking for ways to support the meetings community, to advocate for the DMO value proposition, and to connect meeting professionals directly to DMO destination experts," said Michael Gehrisch, president and CEO of DMAI. "We are extremely proud to partner on these efforts with Cvent, which has a proven track record of providing innovative solutions for the meetings industry."

Cvent's Supplier Network Destination Guide now integrates DMAI's empowerMINT content, easily connecting meeting professionals to the complimentary destination expertise of sales and service personnel from DMOs (also known as convention and visitor bureaus or CVBs).  This integration also helps meeting professionals expedite research ahead of the RFP process.

Additionally, in an effort to increase the visibility of CVBs on the Cvent platform, as well as build greater awareness of the services that DMOs have to offer planners, Cvent has added a new feature to the RFP process which encourages planners to add Cvent's destination partners every time they send an RFP to a particular destination. As part of this new feature, planners are provided with a detailed explanation of how DMOs can be instrumental in the sourcing process.

"With a comprehensive view of the destination, local knowledge, and extensive in-market relationships, DMO destination experts provide the inside track into a destination, which can make the difference in a planner's ability to deliver on specific meeting needs," Gehrisch said. "Now these experts can be found with Cvent's online Destination Guide, making it easier for planners to find and tap into the incomparable local expertise that only DMOs have on their respective destinations."

"The leadership at Cvent truly appreciates the invaluable expertise that DMO sales professionals bring to the table," said Eric Eden, vice president of marketing, Cvent. "Their deep knowledge of the destination and general marketplace saves planners and third party associates time and money throughout the process.  We're pleased to be building a broader relationship between DMAI and Cvent to support the DMO value proposition in the meetings community."

Ultimately, this new partnership aims to provide meeting professionals with all the tools and knowledge available to leverage their options and facilitate their success in any destination.  In addition, DMOs that subscribe to the empowerMINT initiative benefit from increased exposure within Cvent's high-traffic Destination Guide, giving their sales professionals greater visibility and greater opportunities to develop direct relationships with potential meeting partners throughout their search process.
