International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Annual Conference – October 4 –7, Anchorage, AK
Following IEDC President Jeff Finkle's attendance of DMAI's Annual Convention, Jim McCaul, DMAI's Director of Communications will take part in the IEDC annual meeting to further promote and explore collaboration between the two organizations and industries. On October 5th Andy Levine, President & Chief Creative Officer of Development Counsellors International, will moderate a session entitled, “The Case for Collaboration: Practical Ways EDOs and DMOs Can Work Together”. Andy will be joined by Caroline Beteta, President & CEO, Visit California, Annette Rummel, President/CEO, Great Lakes Bay Regional CVB and Ben Teague, Executive Director, Economic Development Coalition for Asheville.
Strategic Planning Meeting – October 6 – 8, Dallas, TX (by invitation only)
During this two-day workshop, DMAI executives and volunteer leadership will explore and plan for the future of the DMO industry, and lay the groundwork for the 2016-2018 DMAI Strategic Plan. Soren Kaplan with InnovationPoint will lead the meeting. Soren’s approach to collaborative strategy development will include many key stakeholder, as well as 6 outside “Thought Leaders” who are shaping the future of membership associations like DMAI and the industry.

Valencia Bembry, DMAI’s SVP of Accreditation and Strategic Initiatives and Executive Director of the Destination & Travel Foundation will attend the CIC Hall of Leaders Celebration on October 13th.
While in Las Vegas, DMAI will host an invitation-only meeting of industry leaders to discuss the future of the association and align DMAI’s strategic initiatives to meet the ever changing landscape faced by our members. The meeting will take place Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the San Polo Room 3402 of the Venetian Hotel.
