DMAI ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE AND PRICING FOR REIMAGINED DESTINATION SHOWCASE

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Chairman Gary C. Sherwin, CDME, and President and CEO of Visit Newport Beach, Inc., and President and CEO Don Welsh today announced the schedule and pricing options for the 2017 Destination Showcase.  Samantha Brown, the globally recognized traveler and industry advocate is the featured guest speaker for the luncheon which officially kicks off the event on March 2 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.

“The DMAI team has dedicated considerable time and effort towards strategically reimagining this important annual event,” said Sherwin.  “I firmly believe that the 2017 Destination Showcase, and, quite honestly, all DMAI-sponsored events, are going to deliver on the renewed commitment to provide what our members and partners want, need and are willing to support.”

The one-day event offers meeting planners the opportunity to connect with more than 150 destinations in one location, and to gain a solid understanding of how DMOs can help drive more successful meetings.  Early bird pricing for booth space is currently available through December 16, 2016.  Standard rates apply after December 16, 2016 and through January 18, 2017.

“DMAI’s senior leadership team has been on the road for the past six months seeking direct input and feedback from our members, and during this time they have shared that Destination Showcase is a relevant and impactful resource,” said Welsh. “The role of the DMO continues to evolve, and as such, a core objective for our team is to continue to drive home the fact that DMOs are a critical component to successful meeting planning.  We believe that the reimagined 2017 Destination Showcase will ultimately deliver on this commitment to our members and planners.”

The completely revamped event will include a networking exchange that will open immediately following the luncheon.  The exchange will feature: Ted Talk-style education sessions, interactive learning labs, hands-on demo features, and pod-based destination displays, allowing for the DMOs and planners to connect at the same level.  All activities within the networking exchange are open to planner and exhibitors.  The day will conclude with a reception from 4:00pm – 5:00pm, the final hour of the event.
