Andrew Zimmern, James Beard Award-Winning TV Personality and Chef to Deliver Closing Keynote

Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Chair Bob Lander President and CEO Don Welsh today announced Andrew Zimmern will deliver the closing keynote, sponsored by Brand USA, at the association’s annual convention on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.  Zimmern, who calls the Twin Cities home, is a three-time James Beard award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer, teacher and one of the most versatile and knowledgeable personalities in the food world.

“The DMAI team has worked incredibly hard to develop a spectacular program for the 2016 Annual Convention,” said Lander.  “I have no doubt that all attendees will benefit greatly from the rich content paired with the stellar collection of national and international industry leaders committed to keynote sessions.”

Zimmern rounds out an impressive roster of national and international industry leaders scheduled to lead engaging and dynamic sessions throughout the multi-day program. Timely and trending topics will headline several engaging and energetic sessions beginning with the PCMA-sponsored Opening Keynote by Abigail Posner, Head of Strategic Planning at the ZOO, Google’s creative think tank for agencies and brands. Day two kicks off with Jay Baer, the world's most retweeted person among digital marketers leading a session entitled “Smarketing: How your sales and marketing teams can co-exist to drive results.”  Chip Conley, Airbnb’s Head of Global Hospitality will lead the closing General Session on Tuesday entitled “Embracing Innovation: How Destinations Are Figuring out Airbnb and the Sharing Economy.”

The Opening Celebration sponsored by Meet Minneapolis will take place at the new U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings.  Zimmern recently signed on with U.S. Bank as a culinary partner.  He will have two outposts of Andrew Zimmern’s Canteen Rotisserie and Andrew Zimmern’s Canteen Hoagies — inside the stadium.
