Destination & Travel Foundation Announces 2013-2014 Board of Directors
Craig Davis, CDME, President & CEO of VisitPittsburgh, will remain as chair of the Destination & Travel Foundation, to provide consistency as the Foundation implements a new strategic plan and fundraising strategies. As a result of significant industry support for the 2009 capital campaign, Destination Excellence: Investing in the Future of Destination Marketing, the Foundation raised more than four million dollars from pledges spanning a four year period. With this collective investment, the Foundation has been a silent but significant funding source, supporting a broad range of projects and initiatives. To continue supporting these initiatives, the Foundation will move towards a planned giving approach.
“I truly believe in the work of the Foundation, with the future and success of the destination marketing and travel industries at the heart of its mission,” Davis said. “I look forward to working with our board of trustees to raise the required revenue to fund critical research and resources to ensure our future.”
Cleo Battle, Executive Vice President of Sales & Services of the Louisville CVB, takes over as chair-elect and Joseph Marinelli, President of Visit Savannah, has been elected secretary/treasurer. Harry Sladich, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Red Lion Hotels Corporation will serve as executive committee member at-large. Barry Biggar, President and CEO of Visit Fairfax remains as immediate past-chair.
