Destination Marketing Association International is now a preferred provider of continuing education through the Convention Industry Council.

Washington, DC – Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) – the global trade association for destination marketing organizations – is the Convention Industry Council’s (CIC) first preferred provider of meetings education for the Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) program. CIC is the leading federation of organizations involved in meetings, conventions, and exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally.

“Our becoming the first designated CMP Preferred Providers is a testament to DMAI’s long-standing relationship with CIC to provide quality education to a community of extremely talented and hardworking professionals who are constantly striving to better their skillsets in a rapidly changing world,” said DMAI Executive Vice President of Professional Development and Meetings, Nancy Elder.

For years, DMAI has worked with CIC to provide timely and relevant continuing education to meeting professionals and the CMP community. DMAI publishes monthly empowerMINT.com webinars, and hosts face-to-face education at its annual conference and expo, Destinations Showcase. Free for planners, the sessions are open to any participant looking to earn continuing education units toward their CMP certification. Additionally, participants now will be able to track credits earned through DMAI programs directly within their CIC profiles.

“CIC is excited to have launched the CMP Preferred Provider Program as a way to offer an added benefit to CMPs and future candidates in finding and tracking continuing education credits, as well as support and identify organizations that offer CMP-applicable education,” said CIC CEO Karen Kotowski.

Meeting planners can take advantage of DMAI’s continuing education offerings in person on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Destinations Showcase in Washington, DC. As North America’s premier one-day conference and expo, Destinations Showcase allows planners to build relationships with over 120 top meeting destinations and earn 3.0 hours of continuing education – free of charge.
