On average, DMOs influence every one in five room nights booked in the United States. With meetings and events contributing $106 billion to GDP in the United States alone, we believe in investing in our dedicated sales managers with the most forward-thinking education and tools.

Designed by Destination Marketing Association International’s (DMAI) empowerMINT team, the new program called the “Buddy2Buddy Challenge,” will encourage participants to step up their ability to break past the boundaries of traditional salesmanship by engaging with their customers on a consistent and on-going basis to set up relationships for the long term.

“Long-term relationships only happen when the meeting planner sees the sales professional as a trusted partner and resource for useful information they can’t get anywhere else,” explains Michelle Travis, Senior Vice President of Sales with Visit Indy, and chair of the Content Marketing Subcommittee. “We intend to help our sales professionals solidify their reputation in the market as that trusted partner, which ultimately makes business sense for all of their destinations and stakeholders.”

DMAI will be sharing participants' progress throughout the extent of the six-session program, and will present program results to DMO sales and marketing leadership from all over the country at its Annual Convention in Orlando this July.
