As I make my plans to attend the DMAI Annual Convention in Minneapolis, I find myself looking forward to several things. While you’d think my first item would be looking forward to the deliciously pleasant Midwest summer weather, you’d be wrong. That’s second.

What I’m most looking forward to, as is the case every year at Annual, is the chance to connect with peers far and wide. More so than smaller DMAI meetings and industry conferences, it’s really the Annual Meeting that consistently delivers the widest-ranging, most diverse and interesting audience. This really lets me connect with the industry in ways that are more challenging at conferences that just cover marketing.

Second: summer in Minny. We’ve been over this!

Finally, there are some sessions that I’m considering a can’t-miss:

Date: Tuesday, August 2
Time: 11:00 am - 11:00 am
Session: Sports & Entertainment as Demand Drivers
Why I'm Excited: Leonard Hoops from Indy certainly knows his stuff in this space.

Date: Tuesday, August 2
Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Session: Global All Stars: Innovation Showcase – New Technology, New Marketing, New Ideas
Why I'm Excited: Can’t wait to hear from the Aussies!

Date: Tuesday, August 2
Time: 2:30 pm - 32:30 pm
Session: Marketing, Communications & Public Relations Roundtable
Why I'm Excited: I always like to have some focused time with my marketing and PR peers. This year looks to be a productive session as well.
