Destination & Travel Foundation Dinner

As we count down to the 22nd Annual Destination & Travel Foundation Dinner, we wanted to take the time out to honor some of the contributions of our amazing partners that not only support the industry on this occasion, but in fact year round.

Each year we look to have a little bit of local flavor at the event from our participating destinations. This year we are proud and very excited to welcome straight from the valleys of Northern California, a variety of wines from our friends and colleagues at the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau

With the list below, I think we can all agree that CEO Tammy Blount and her team have outdone themselves this year with the tremendous selection of the regions finest.

2013 Carmel Road Un-Oaked Chardonnay
Vibrant and refreshing, this wines bright, fruit forward profile bursts with aromas of lemon zest and subtle hints of banana.  With it's flavors of fresh cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple and tropical notes, this wine is beautifully balanced and complex with mouth watering acidity.

2013 Carmel Road Pinot Noir
Fruit forward with flavors of raspberries, cherry pie filling, mulberries, cranberries and pomegranates, this wine is beautifully balanced with savory notes of dusty brown spices accented by smokey oak.

2013 Carmel Road RieslingSee Monterery Food & Wine
This amazingly fragrant wine displays bright tangy apricot, papaya and lime flavors with hints of white honeysuckle flowers, pink grapefruit and vanilla bean. Its succulent  bracing minerality and crisp acidity, balances and brightens to a slightly sweet finish.

Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay
This medium-bodied Chardonnay has a rich, golden color and aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, honey, cinnamon and light floral notes, balanced by subtle oak, butter and vanilla from barrel aging. It has a round mouthfeel and a long, fruity finish.

Bernardus Pinot Noir
Our Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinots from some of SLH’s best vineyards.
At Bernardus, all our grapes are hand-picked, fermented in small, individual batches and aged in the finest French oak barrels until final blending, just before bottling.

In the glass, the robe is a classic crimson color. We find aromas of cherry and cranberry, along with subtle spicy oak notes. The palate is beautifully focused, exhibiting flavors of ripe, red fruits. The finish is soft and gently lingers on the palate.

Wrath Ex Anima Chardonnay
Ex Anima, or “from the soul” in Latin, is a series of wines from Wrath that features minimal winemaking intervention and no new oak. These wines present uncluttered, precise and individualistic expressions of the maritime climate and gravelly soils that form the soul of our estate vineyard. Aged in stainless steel, this unoaked chardonnay is bright and fresh with notes of citrus and nectarine.

Scratch Riesling
These Riesling grapes are sourced from the rocky river bed of the Arroyo Seco.  The rocky soil allows for great drainage and minerality that is pervasive in this wine.  This Riesling is screamin' dry.  Big acid, bright minerality, grapefruit and lemon with a hint of flowers.

We'll look to see you at this years dinner and toast to another year of success for the foundation and the team at Monterey!
